# Yao Software Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how **Infinite Wisdom Software** ("**Yao**", "**we**", "**us**") handles personal data when you use the client software **Yao Engine**, **Yao Agents** and **Tai Link** (the "**Software**"). It should be read together with our [Yao Software Terms of Service](/docs/zh-tw/terms/yao-software) (the "**Terms**").

## 1. The short version
- **The Software runs on your own devices.** Workspaces, files, conversations, and robot and task data are stored on your devices by default.
- **Yao is anonymous by design.** A local instance does not require an account with us; accounts and credentials are held on your devices, so **we generally do not know who you are** and cannot identify or contact you.
- **We do not collect, access or store your Local Content.** Accordingly, it is not used to train or improve models or to build datasets, and is not sold to third parties. When you call a cloud model or Tao Services, what input is sent is determined by the Agent you configure locally (see 5.2).
- **You bring your own models.** You can configure your own model providers (including a local Ollama instance); your inputs are sent directly to that provider by the Software, and we do not receive them.
- **Only if you choose to use Tao Services** (accounts, model service, cloud servers, Hub, etc.) does the [Tao Privacy Policy](/docs/zh-tw/privacy/policy) apply to that use.

## 2. Scope and controller
2.1 This Policy applies to the Software (local client software).
2.2 In local operation, we generally **do not process your personal data** and do not know your identity; accounts and credentials for a local instance are held and managed by you.
2.3 We may act as a controller only where you choose to use Tao Services or visit our website.

## 3. Local operation and anonymity
3.1 **The Software runs on your devices.** Workspaces, files, conversations, tasks, model inputs and outputs, and logs are stored by default in the local directories you designate.
3.2 **We do not collect Local Content.** We do not collect, access, store or analyse your Local Content; accordingly, it is not used to train or improve models, to build datasets, or for any other purpose. When you call a cloud model or Tao Services, what input is sent is determined by the Agent you configure locally (see 5.2); Tao's handling is described in the [Tao Privacy Policy](/docs/zh-tw/privacy/policy).
3.3 **Local accounts and credentials are held by you.** A local instance does not require an account with us; accounts, password hashes and tokens are held on your devices and are managed and reset by you. We cannot access, recover or delete your local data.
3.4 **You connect to Third-Party Models directly.** When you configure a Third-Party Model, the Software **sends your inputs directly to that provider**; we do not receive or store them, and the provider processes them under its own terms and privacy policy.
3.5 **Tai Link.** Connections are established between Tai Link and your Yao Agents instance over an encrypted gRPC tunnel (TLS should be enabled in production). We do not access or store the content exchanged between your devices; files synchronised are written to local directories you designate.

## 4. If you use Tao Services
4.1 The Software may connect to **Tao Services** (the Tao AI capability gateway, including accounts, the model service, cloud servers and the Hub).
4.2 When you use Tao Services, the processing of personal data is governed by the [Tao Privacy Policy](/docs/zh-tw/privacy/policy); this Policy does not restate it, and the Tao Privacy Policy prevails if there is any inconsistency.
4.3 You may choose not to use Tao Services and run the Software purely locally.

## 5. Limited other information
5.1 **Website and cookies.** If you visit our website or download pages, we may use essential cookies and local storage, and aggregate analytics; you can manage cookies through your browser. Where required by law, we ask for consent before setting non-essential cookies.
5.2 **Online calls.** When your Agent, robot or model call needs network access (for example, calling a cloud model or Tao Services), **what input is sent is determined by the Agent Harness you configure locally**, and may include Local Content, files or context that you choose to provide. The Software sends that input directly to the model provider or Tao Service you configured:
(a) for **Tao Services**, the input is used only to fulfil your request and is **not retained and not used for training or to build datasets** (see the [Tao Privacy Policy](/docs/zh-tw/privacy/policy));
(b) for **third-party model providers**, their own terms and privacy policies apply.
5.3 Except as described above and in relation to Tao Services, we do not actively collect your personal data.

## 6. Security
6.1 We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect the personal data we process, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls and least privilege.
6.2 The security of the Software depends substantially on your devices and configuration; keep your devices, Credentials and server keys secure, and revoke them promptly if a device is lost, or on a change of personnel.
6.3 Your local data is under your control. In local operation we do not hold your local data and have no way of knowing whether it has been breached or lost, so we neither can nor will send you a breach notification about it.
6.4 **Vulnerability fixes and security updates.** We use our best efforts to promptly fix security vulnerabilities in the Software. Where a vulnerability is reported by a third-party security researcher (white hat), we will assess and fix it promptly and, where necessary, notify users by a website notice or in-product message. Please install security updates promptly to reduce risk.

## 7. Changes to this Policy
7.1 We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by a website notice or in-product message a reasonable period in advance; if we hold your contact details (for example, because you use Tao Services), we may also notify you by email or console message. Where the law provides otherwise as to the notice period, that provision applies. Each version is dated and archived.
